It all started with a name: Allike. Aside from the all too obvious wordplay the name and our subsequent philosophy and concept that is derived from our name requires a few words in itself. The word Allike is Danish in origin and translates to Jackdaw, the smallest and smartest in the Raven family. The reason as to why we chose the Danish word comes from the fact that we are situated in Altona, the western district in Hamburg that used to be Danish and thus is an historical homage. More importantly the Allike or Jackdaw is a clever, selective and very social animal, traits that we aim for in regards to our philosophy and concept as well.
From the beginning, as a store as well as individually, we all worked towards translating the aesthetical bridge between the very limited independent brands, art and music to selecting the key international players to create a space where those worlds merged into our own playground. We knew we weren’t alone on this vision, in fact, the merging of street and fashion has been coming for decades and luckily we were all part of this growth. The choices of brands, products, artists and people we work with are all reflected in our history and vision of the future.
We pride ourselves on our history yet never stop learning and never stop exploring. Just as jackdaw travels, so do we, continuously exploring new realities, trends and movements at the cross section of fashion, sports, art and culture, whether they exist off- or online, or both. Through our spaces here in Hamburg we build communities by bringing back stories, experiences and products from around the world that we feel are exciting, positive and a contribution to our world and with that, we aim to give the same back, not just to our community here but to everyone we interact with. That is how we understand what we do, we interact, we shape and offer our aesthetic and have been doing so successfully for 8 years.
